Plant-Based Shiitake “Bacon”

Shiitake mushrooms are one of the most popular mushrooms in the world. They’re known for their delicious taste and powerful health benefits. They also make delicious plant-based “bacon” and that’s because mushrooms soak up a lot of flavors. Try adding these yummy plant-based shiitake “bacon” strips to vegan omelets, pizzas, over salads, anything goes!     

Health Benefits in Shiitake Mushrooms:

  1. Can help fight cancer
  2. Can help boost immunity
  3. Can support heart health

Ingredients 

1/2 tsp olive oil 

2 cups sliced shiitake mushrooms 

2-3 tsp tamari or soy sauce

1 ½ tsp maple syrup or raw honey

1 tsp liquid smoke 

1/2 tsp ground black pepper 

1 tsp smoked paprika 

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 F.  Heat a large rimmed oven-safe pan and place over medium heat. Once hot, add olive oil, mushrooms, tamari, maple syrup, liquid smoke, black pepper, and smoked paprika and combine. Sauté, stirring frequently, for 2-3 minutes. Then transfer to preheated oven and bake for 10-12minutes or until browned, dried, and slightly crispy.

Serve with Vegan Omelet Tofu Stuffed Peppers

Tocino de Hongos Shiitake

 

Los hongos shiitake son uno de los hongos más populares del mundo. Son conocidos por su delicioso sabor y poderosos beneficios para la salud. También hacen un delicioso “tocino” a base de plantas y eso se debe a que los hongos absorben muchos sabores. Intenta agregar estas deliciosas tiritas de tocino de hongos shiitake a las tortillas veganas, pizzas, y ensaladas. 

Beneficios para la salud de los hongos shiitake:

  1. Puede ayudar a combatir el cáncer
  2. Puede ayudar a estimular la inmunidad
  3. Puede apoyar la salud del corazón.

Ingredientes

1/2 cucharadita de aceite de oliva 

2 tazas de hongos shiitake en rodajas

2-3 cucharaditas de tamari o salsa de soja

1 ½ cucharadita de jarabe de arce o miel 

1 cucharadita de humo líquido

1/2 cucharadita de pimienta negra molida

1 cucharadita de pimentón ahumado

Instrucciones

Precaliente el horno a 400 F. Caliente una sartén grande para horno con borde y colóquela a fuego medio. Una vez caliente, agregue el aceite de oliva, hongos, tamari, jarabe de arce, humo líquido, pimienta negra y pimentón ahumado y combine. Saltee, revolviendo con frecuencia, durante 2-3 minutos. Luego, transfiéralo al horno precalentado y hornee por 10-12 minutos o hasta que esté dorado, seco y ligeramente crujiente.
