Three Simple Tips To Clean Non-Organic Produce

Organic Vs Non-Organic Produce

While it’s great to buy organic produce, don’t sweat it if you can’t always find them or they’re not in the budget.

Here are three tips for removing pesticides from non-organic produce:

  1. Wash with Baking Soda: Create a solution of water and baking soda (about 1 tablespoon of baking soda per gallon of water) and soak your fruits and vegetables for 10-15 minutes. Then, rinse them thoroughly with water to remove the baking soda residue.
  2. Use Vinegar: Mix equal parts of water and white vinegar in a bowl or spray bottle. Soak the produce in this solution for 5-10 minutes, then rinse well with water. The acidic nature of vinegar helps break down pesticide residues.
  3. Peel Certain Fruits and Vegetables: For produce with thick skins or peels, like apples, cucumbers, and carrots, consider peeling them to reduce pesticide exposure. However, remember that some nutrients and fiber may be lost with the peel, so it’s a trade-off to consider.

Remember, it’s about making informed choices and taking small steps toward a healthier lifestyle. So, whether organic or not, let’s keep nourishing our bodies with the best we can find!

Tres consejos simples para limpiar productos no orgánicos

Plant-Based On A Budget
